Lauren Rosenblum

Nature,  steady and tenacious; it is also an emblem of growth and renewal. I consider my Botanicals to be portraits and my  figurative  work to be a part of nature.  We are a part of nature.

The character portraits that I paint are a closeup,  personal depiction of the inner essence of the subject. I am reaching for the nucleus of the subject, giving permission to be intrusive and inquisitive. Dismissing all of the inconsequential details, I am attempting to extricate the unexposed.

My art is a benevolent invasion of the aspect of the personality that tries to remain hidden… not quite ready to be revealed, judged or dissected. The pieces are often large, adding to the paintings’ uncompromising and unapologetic objective..
