About the Artists
Jan Boone has been holding an artist’s paint brush in her hand since her childhood on a farm in northwest Ohio. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Miami University in 1975, she began a career with Cincinnati’s Gibson Greetings Company, where she served for some twenty years in varied capacities. In recent years, her reputation and success as an oil painter emerging, she has had an opportunity to train with prominent area and national artists.
Jan Boone is a sought-after teacher and lecturer who enjoys associations with local art organizations. Color, composition, and storytelling are all a part of her work. Tranquility and serenity, even humor, reflect from the canvas to the viewer – sometimes in contrast to the fairly bright color strokes. Recurring subjects seem to fall into three categories that reflect Jan's heart: Cincinnati landmarks, Ohio farm scenes, and river paintings. Her paintings’ subjects typically come from everyday scenes that also include people as subject.
Jan’s work has won numerous awards in competitions held by the Mason Art Association and the Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati, as well as being accepted in juried shows at the Fitton Center in Butler County, and the Cincinnati Art Club. She is a Signature Member of the Cincinnati Art Club, the second oldest art club in the country.
Jan Boone’s work can be found in many private and corporate collections Including the Cincinnati Financial Corporation, Mercy of Fairfield Hospital, A-Peeling Fund Raising, Castellini Company, West Chester Medical Center, The Bethesda Foundation and William Mercer, Inc.
